Vietnam-Ho Chi Minh(Postponed)Inaugural Vietnam International Cricket Sixes 2010 Tournament PostponedThe Asian Cricket Sixes Tour (ACST) confirmed today that the inaugural Vietnam International Cricket Sixes 2010 planned for 6 & 7th February would not take place and would be postponed to a later date due to a logistical issue. “ACST officials and our partners in Vietnam have put in many months of preparatory work for the new Vietnam Sixes tournament and we fully expect that the tournament will take place later in the year,” said ACST Chairman Michael 'Cat' Maher. “There was a logistical issue with the playing surface which we were not confident could be solved in time for the planned event dates. Teams playing in ACST tournaments over the years have rightly come to expect high standards and therefore regrettably we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the event to later in the year. Work continues on the Vietnam event and we expect to make an announcement of the new dates in due course,” Mr Maher continued. “The other new ACST tournament this year, the Pattaya International Cricket Sixes 2010 (April 7th to 10th), along with all our other established tournaments, remain fully on schedule and we’re looking forward to another fantastic year of ‘friendship through cricket,’” said Mr Maher. To avoid any confusion ACST wish to make it clear to all friends, teams and individuals that any cricket sixes events taking place in Vietnam during February 2010 are not organized by ACST and ACST tournament standards therefore cannot be guaranteed. The Waratah World Sixes 2010 takes place this week in New South Wales, Australia from 14 - 17th January. Play remarkably got underway on time in the morning following a night of superb food and great company at a packed Festival Gala Dinner held at Spice Restaurant. Carlsberg and Thirsty Horse wines were free flowing and a great night was had by all, which for many continued into the small hours. CRICKET SONG for Hong Kong Cricket FestivalAustralian cricketer and singer-songwriter Terry Ward wrote and recorded a song specially commissioned for the Hong Kong Cricket Festival. Appropriately entitled “Cricket” it was aired on RTHK Radio 3 during an interview with Terry as part of the build up to the Hong Kong Festival. Chairman Michael 'Cat' Maher was "very satisfied" with the outcome of their Annual General Meeting, held in Pattaya, Thailand from 17 - 20th July. Postponement of the Macau International Cricket Sixes 2009
We were very much looking forward to returning the Sixes to Macau after the very popular first tournament in 2007 won by Shanghai, and we know many teams were keen to enter. However, for reasons beyond our control, it has proved impossible to stage the tournament in June as hoped, and we would prefer to give everyone early notice of the situation. We apologise for any disappointment. We are hopeful that at some point in the future we will be able to stage another Macau Cricket Sixes, to add to our tournaments in Phuket, Hong Kong, Philippines, New South Wales, Singapore and Bangkok. In the meantime we are also exploring possible new tournaments in Pattaya, Vietnam, India and Nepal to be held in 2010.
